Baroque in Transition: The Treble Viol

Baroque in Transition: The Treble Viol will be presented on Tuesday, June 30, 2026 at 5pm at the Orcas Adventist Fellowship Church, 107 Enchanted Forest Road in Eastsound.

This program features Annalisa Pappano (treble viol), William Simms (baroque guitar), and Jeffrey Cohan (renaissance and baroque flutes) in a performance exploring the evolving musical landscape of the early 17th century. The concert highlights how Renaissance and Baroque instrumental styles coexisted and transitioned over time, with works showcasing both periods’ distinct yet overlapping musical colors.

The program includes transitional repertoire by early 17th-century Italian composers, followed by distinctly Baroque Italian and French works, featuring combinations of treble viol, transverse flutes, and baroque guitar.
