The San Juan Preservation Trust invites the community to an evening public lecture exploring the importance of land conservation in the islands. The presentation will delve into why conservation matters for local communities, how the Preservation Trust identifies properties to protect, and the partnerships and community support that make this vital work possible.

Attendees will also get an inside look at the Trust’s newest project — the 30-acre Mt. Ben West Preserve on San Juan Island. This recent acquisition connects existing protected lands and opens the door for a future public trail system stretching from the shores of the Salish Sea to the summit of Mt. Ben.

Light snacks, beverages, and hors d’oeuvres will be provided.

About the Presenter
The lecture will be led by Gabe Epperson, Senior Project Manager at the San Juan Preservation Trust. Gabe joined the organization in 2024, bringing more than 20 years of nonprofit leadership in conservation and land-use planning. His work focuses on new land acquisitions. Prior to joining the Preservation Trust, he served as Conservation Director and later Executive Director of the Whatcom Land Trust.
