Jack Rubel has been a photo enthusiast for over 60 years. He began photographing in high school with a Kodak Retina Reflex II—a camera just unforgiving enough to teach discipline yet also magical enough to spark a lifelong passion.
Trained as an academic researcher, he brings a careful, observant eye to his work. Since 2002, he has deepened his photography through study, field workshops, and one-on-one work with professional photographers. Between 2022 and 2025, he and his partner (Connie Cornell) have traveled to twelve countries, engaging local pro-photographers to help him expand his visual perspective.
Now based on Orcas Island, Jack creates thoughtfully composed images that reveal subtle beauty—fleeting light, quiet moments, and curious details often unnoticed or overlooked. His works, spanning nature, wildlife, and global travel, are intended as visual treats for those who look twice.
