Bill Yarlott Youth Fishing Derby and Pancake Breakfast

An island tradition continues with the Annual Bill Yarlott Youth Fishing Derby and free pancake breakfast at Cascade Lake on April 26 hosted by Orcas Adventures.

This much-anticipated event promises to be a day of outdoor adventure and family bonding for children aged 13 and under. The highlight of the event is the fishing derby itself, where young anglers will have the opportunity to showcase their skills and reel in some impressive catches.

Starting at daybreak, participants can fish their hearts out on Cascade Lake. You are also welcome to gather at the Cascade Day Use Shelter at 9am for a free pancake breakfast to fuel up for a morning of fishing fun. At 11am, the excitement will peak as participants bring their catches to the weigh-in station at the Cascade Day Use Shelter where we will have a blazing fire to warm you up. Prizes will be awarded for various categories, including biggest fish, best sportsmanship, and more.

In addition to the fishing, the event will feature the Jeffrey Pyne Free Fishing Weekend where free fishing poles and tackle will be given away to children who need them (while supplies last). No registration for the Bill Yarlott Youth Fishing Derby is required and it is open to children aged 13 and under. Participants are encouraged to bring their catch (fish) to the Cascade Lake Day Use Shelter at 11am for photos, measurement of fish, pancakes and prizes.
