Based on Orcas Island, Washington, Rain Shadow Consulting has been providing professional and high-quality tree care, forestry, consulting, and ecological restoration services in San Juan County since 2005. They work with a diverse range of clients from individual homeowners to our regional utility company to non-profit organizations managing large preserves for conservation and rare species restoration. Their sister company, Orcas Biomass, produces and sells quality lumber and mulch products from recycled woody material.
Description: Rain Shadow Consulting is looking for a well-rounded, experienced arborist to join their professional and safety-conscious team. Qualifications for the ideal candidate: 4-7 years experience with chainsaw and arborist work including rigging, technical felling, and climbing
Aerial lift/bucket truck operation experience is required
Utility line clearance a plus
ISA Arborist and/or utility line clearance certifications a plus
Valid driver’s license and experience driving manual transmissions and driving/backing trailers
CDL class A or B strongly desired, or willingness to attend company-sponsored training
Must enjoy working outdoors year-round in all weather conditions
A positive attitude, strong work ethic, safety consciousness, environmental ethic, ability to be a team player, communication skills (verbal and digital), and the desire and ability to learn new skills are most important!
The job may demand long hours and trips to outer islands. Crews work a seasonally variable 4- or 5-day work week and are based on Orcas Island and San Juan Island.
Pay and Benefits:
$36-42+/hour DOE

Temporary housing available on Orcas Island. $2000 sign-on bonus ($250 at sign-on, $1750 after 12 months).
